What is a Margin?

Margin Definition

A margin is a percentage added to the index rate that provides profit for the lender. For instance, if you have a loan with 5.000% interest, you may have a margin of an additional .001% to give you an actual interest rate of 5.001%. The margin is used to calculate the ARM rate.
